Kyrnian gazed placidly over the land, making vague notes of everything he saw. The trees, the browning grass, the few stones scattered about randomly...His yellow-orange eyes took in as much as he could see, focusing on the more useful areas especially. The ditches, large rocks, thick bushes and taller clumps of grass, for instance.
Zagagid territories. His thoughts were almost neutral. Almost. He did want to join the pack. If he had to fight it out he would, but he certainly didn't want to. Fights always got messy and painful one way or another.
He cocked his head and pricked his ripped ear, listening carefully. Was that rustle he heard the sound of paws on dry grass? Perhaps. It might be a rat or a bird or something, but once can never be sure...He raised his scarred muzzle a little higher in the air, scenting the breeze that came right toward him. Another wolf was upwind. The musky odor was male, and has a warning dominance to it. Well, if it isn't the alpha male...
He tensed, but not because he was afraid or worried. It was just an odd habit of his to be prepared for anything, whether you need to run, defend, or even attack...

Setana wandered along the lands, catching the scent of a pack nearby. Her hopes lifted and her energy returned at the thought of possibly joining. She was downwind from the other wolf and caught his scent to.
Her muscles tensed and then realised, sending her into a bounding gallop. She skidded to a stop near the other wolf, her claws digging into the earth.
"Are you here to join the pack, as well?"

Kyrnian stiffened at the females arrival, his jaw tightening and his claws digging into the ground. It wasn't visibly a noticeable change, but it was still a change. Kyrnian was not exactly...used to female company, and therefore was not comfortable with it. He took care not to show his agitation, though, and tried at act as he would any other time.
"...Yes. " His answer was slow and hesitant, a bit shaky, even. Crap. Crap crap crap. God I hate myself... Turned his head to glance a her briefly. It was all he needed to get a mental snapshot of the wolf standing next to him. Silvery-black fur, crystal blue eyes...
"The alpha's infamous for savage testing and quick rejection, though..." He glared at the place where he assumed the alpha could be. "What's the point? I might as well travel without a pack." He turned to go, but hesitated.
"What's your name?"

She smiled, her tongue lolling on one side. "Setana. And honestly, if tha alpha rejects me I'll try another pack that can accept my skills." The dark wolf was apparently oblivious to his uncomfort. She tilted her head to one side, trotting towards him. "What is your name?"

He hesitated, but replied, "Kyrnian." He added as an afterthought, "If you're ever looking for me, look at the river." He surprised himself with his own words. Why would anyone ever look for the scarred likes of him. He was being stupid. Females don't bother themselves with beaten up males...

Setana grinned her lopsided grin, doing a playful bow with her tail wagging in the air. "I'll be sure to do that. While we're waiting, you wanna play?" She asked, snapping at him playfully, hopping from side to side.

Kyrnian cocked his head at her curiously, but with a mental shrug decided he might as well. What harm was there in messing around a bit? Clearly she didn't mind...
"How do you play?" He asked, a toothy smile spread across his face. "Gentle?..." He walked to her side and brushed her softly. "...Or rough?" He bumped her and growled playfully, a joy-fight on his mind. He wouldn't fight hard...Let her smack me around a little bit, he thought to himself, She'll enjoy it.

She laughed a bit, grinning her lopsided grin and pounced him, biting at his ear playfully. Setana wagged her tail wildly. "I like rough." She said in a childish manner through her teeth as she nipped at his ears still.

Kyrnian staggered a bit and fell on his side, faking surprise and yelping. He snarled playfully and nipped at her paws, not really trying to defend himself from her but not completely surrendering.
"Rough, hmmm?" He pawed at her and flashed his fangs, a baratone rumble in his throat. He snapped at her gently, his teeth closing aroung some fur and releasing quickly, then grabbing again, and releasing. It was roughplay, sure, but not dangerous. He could hurt badly when he wanted to, but only when he wanted to.

"Yup." Came her reply as she did her play-bow, nipping at him playfully. She placed a paw on the other side of him, biting at his neck and ears. She pawed at him slightly, pulling at his fur lightly. Setana nipped at his skin some, but not enough to draw blood or actually hurt. She knew her limits pretty well, but not too well, being such a young pup still.

Kyrnian laughed and pushed her off a bit, rolling onto his stomach and off of his side. The grass was soft if not lush, and he felt like rolling around in the many scents it harbored. He was never one to disobey himself. A wide grin on his dark face, he did as he wished, twisting around on the ground and grinning like a six-month old puppy. He was well aware he must look incredibly funny, but who cared? Certainly not him...
"Comon, Setana! It's fun!" He barked at the female, rolling over a patch of green that sent up a small cloud of insects. He jumped to his feet and nipped at her playfully. "You know you want to." He went headfirst back into the ground and did a strange somersault that left him flat on his back, paws pointing towards the sky.
"That was interesting." He panted, his tounge lolling out of his mouth. This was fun, yea. But it was pretty energy-draining, too.

Setana laughed out loud, watching him for a few moments. He did look incredibly funny, but she joined him anyway. She flopped into the grass and rolled around, kicking at the air with her paws. She rolled onto her stomach, biting at him playfully. The silver-white part of her fur was filthy now, almost black. She didn't really care.
She lay on her stomach like that, legs outstretched, tail wagging. She nipped at a few insects that came by. "You're fun." She said, grinning and panting at the same time.

Kyrnian grinned back at her, wagging his tail. He snapped at her ear and pawed her shoulder, too exausted to do anything else.
"Ah...I can do other fun stuff." He set his head down in the grass and disturbed a fly. "I just can't think of anything right now." That wasn't necessarily true, but...

Kyrnian rolled onto his back and pawed at the air, his mouth open in a wide, wolfish grin. He stretched, yawned, and rolled back onto his side, panting and wagging his tail like a puppy when it first leaves sees the world outside the den.
"So...How long you been a loner?" He cocked his head and pricked his ears, curious as o the answer. How long had she been wandering the wide world without a pack? Maybe as long as him. She didn't look to have suffered the trials tht came of trying to survive on ones own. Either she had been extremely lucky or hadn't been single long enough.
